Excel is an amazing piece of software. But those neatly-arranged grids – even flexible tools like PivotCharts – are too restrictive for complex, progressive businesses. Sage Intacct has a solution.
You’ve seen this person at a restaurant. He or she orders a meal off the menu but just wants to make a tiny substitution or two. Pretty soon, what’s being ordered has only the vaguest resemblance to the description in print.
Depending on how accommodating the restaurant is – and/or how pleasant the diner is — dinner may or may not be what was actually ordered.
You probably want to make the same kind of requests from your software sometimes, particularly Excel. You’re satisfied overall with its abilities for your everyday, standard output, but your business has grown to the point where you’d like to be able to start from scratch and tell it what you need to learn.

Sage Intacct gives you the best of both worlds. It offers three report types:
- Standard. These are similar to the boilerplate reports in QuickBooks, though there are many more, and they give you much greater insight on your data. They fall into categories like Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Purchase Orders.
- Financial. These are your nuts-and-bolts accounting reports, like Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Report.
- Custom. This is where Sage Intacct pulls away from the pack, where you get to be the restaurant patron basically dictating your meal’s ingredients.
Exceptional Financial Visibility
Sage Intacct has few boundaries, few of the limitations that stifle in-depth, customizable analysis in out-of-the-box software. You choose the accounting capabilities that you need, either from Sage Intacct itself or one of its partners. Everything is integrated. Each individual element (like Revenue Management, Project Accounting and Purchasing) offers a core set of tools and screens, like its Standard and Financial Reports.
But Sage Intacct encourages you to make every corner of the solution your own. You can build your own screens, name your own fields, create countless dashboards, etc. The Custom Reports Wizard asks you, for example, what information (objects and columns) your report should have, how it should be sorted and displayed and what the reporting dates and other filters should be.
What you get, then, is real-time access to every bit of financial and operational data that exists across the entire system, even across multiple business entities. It would be like walking into a restaurant where absolutely everything on the menu was a la carte. You simply can’t get this kind of visibility, customizability or user control from Excel.
Sage Intacct Lets You See the Big Picture
Understandably, Sage Intacct has something of a learning curve, which we’d be happy to help you through.
